New York based guitarist Nelson Riveros is part of an emerging force of a new generation of Contemporary Latin-Jazz artists. His debut recording titled ‘Camino Al Barrio’ peaked at #8 on the Jazz Week World Music Chart. He was nominated among his peers as ‘Next Best Generation Artist’ and ‘Best Latin Jazz Guitar’ for the 2010 Latin Jazz Corner Best of The Year Awards. His group has performed at The Iridium, Zinc Bar, La Lanterna/ Bar Next Door, Van Dyke Cafe in Miami several festivals in the try state area and a tour of Colombia.
Nelson has performed and recorded with Grammy nominated pianist Hector Martignon, Grammy winning bassist John Benitez, Samuel Torres, Luis Bonilla, Alfredo De La Fe, Jeremy Wall of Spyro Gyra, ‘Charles Ives For Jazz Orchestra’ featuring: Billy Drewes, Scott Wentholt, Jim Seeley, John Mosca, Ivan Renta,Vince Cherico.
He has a new project coming out titled ‘Latin Side of Wes Montgomery.’
Nelson Riveros has been on the faculty of the acclaimed 92st.Y School of Music for 12 years.
